Tasted at the vertical held at the property, the 2010 Château Siran, a blend of 46% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot, has a very fresh and captivating bouquet with raspberry coulis, blackberry and cedar aromas that are still backward, but should repay further bottle age. With aeration, there is just a touch of fig that comes through. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine structure, a little grainy in the mouth with tar and graphite-tinged black fruit. What differentiates this from the 2009 is the precision on the finish and though the 2009 Siran has improved in bottle, the 2010 still has the edge. This is a very well-crafted Siran, but it needs several more years in bottle. Tasted February 2016.
